John M. "Peter Pan" Turner-Bey Sr., 68, of Benton Harbor transitioned July 27, 2021.
A service celebrating his life will be Aug. 17, at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Benton Harbor. The visitation begins at 11 a.m. followed by the service at noon.

John was born to the union of Wallace and Iria Davis Turner Sr., on April 28, 1953.
He graduated from Benton Harbor High School and served in the U.S. Army until he was medically discharged. John married the late Kim Renee Bolden Turner.
John was a member of the Progressive Baptist Church and later, New Bethel Baptist Church. He was also brother to the Muslims and enjoyed studying the Holy Koran. John was a basketball coach at Calvin Britain School and Highland Projects Community Center. He was an excellent fisherman and loved the water.
John leaves to cherish his memory his daughters: Letitica, (TC) White, Meitta E. Turner and LaTrese Brooks; sons: Herbert A. Turner and David Whitelow Jr.; niece, Iria L. Hardin; five grandsons; six granddaughters; special friend, Vallerie Brooks; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Turner; mother, Iria Turner; son, John Turner Jr.; sisters: Dorothy McGinnis, Benoria Seuell, Roxanne Turner, Ida Turner, Rosie Lee Moore, Pasty Ann Brooks, Reggie "Susie" Turner, Ara Montgomery; brothers: Wallace Turner Jr., Elmer Turner, and Jerry Turner; grandson, Donnell Q. Word Jr.; great-grandson, Montez I.C. Brooks.
