Coach Tuttle Family,

I wanted to extend my condolences to all of you and to let you know the impact Coach Tuttle had on my life. I played for Coach Tuttle at Paul Blazer in Ashland, Ky during the late 70´s. I can still remember watching game film with him and also anxiously awaiting on Monday mornings, the grade I would receive from him for my performance from the prior Friday night´s football game. The good grades were something I craved. I sought his approval and a good grade was so encouraging as I wanted to make him happy. The bad grades were also motivating as constructive coaching to help me improve. He coached fundamentals and details that I even passed down to my son. Just wanted you to know that he was my favorite coach ever.

October 14th 2022.
A few students from Heritage's first graduating classes came by for a mini reunion. I was soo happy to meet him and his lovely wife. He's definitely the coolest principal I've ever known. I graduated Heritage Highschool in 2013 and now I work here. His photo still hangs in the front office.

I remember he would have these really great vocabulary challenges during lunch time. He would encourage us to memorize ten words a day, and then to tell him the definitions of these words. One time, during the holiday halloween, I offered him some candy. He responded, "You can't put candy in a ferrari." ( He was referring himself as the ferrari)

Mr.Tuttle is one of my favorite people.

I met John at Spessard Holland Golf Course. I would often see him on Saturday morning and looked forward to speaking with him. I had the pleasure to play a couple rounds with him and enjoyed the conversations. He loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren. I miss seeing John at the course. May God be with his family during this time

It is with deep sadness and respect that I remember Mr. Tuttle, a remarkable leader and a truly kind-hearted man. I had the privilege of working with him in the front office at Bayside High School, and without question, he was the best boss I ever had.

Mr. Tuttle had a rare and special way about him-one that naturally drew people in. Whether it was teachers, staff, students, or parents, everyone felt welcome in his presence. He was approachable, sincere, and compassionate, always willing to listen and ready to support anyone in need. His steady leadership and genuine warmth created a sense of unity and trust that left a lasting impact on everyone around him.

His passing is a tremendous loss to the Bayside community and to all who had the honor of knowing him. Mr. Tuttle was not just a principal or a colleague-he was a friend, a mentor, and a beacon of kindness.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his beloved wife, Karlene, his children, Lance and Brooke, and to his entire family. May they find comfort in the memories of a life so beautifully lived and in the legacy of love and respect he leaves behind.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

I moved to Florida in the summer of 1983, getting ready to start my junior year of high school at Palm Bay High. I met Coach Tuttle , as he was my weight training / phys.ed. teacher. He asked me if I was going to play football, i told him no I was a baseball player.... And he proceeded to quickly tell me he was the head baseball coach, and that he would be keeping his eye on me! I can still remember him teaching me how to use all of the free weights and machines in the weight room that fall. He always told me not to give up and it showed , when tryouts came in the spring for baseball. I still remember the day he he called me in his office to tell me that I'd made varsity, and to make sure I was on time for my first practice with the rest of the team! After I graduated in 1985, I continued to see him periodically at Southwest Junior High, and at football games at Bayside and Heritage . All five of my kids had the pleasure to go to those two high schools when he was the principal, they loved him as well. Every time we would cross paths, he would introduce me to other people as one of his ballplayers from the great years at Palm Bay ! He was tough yet fair, and he always cared deeply about his students and his athletes! Coach, you have meant so much to so many people over the years, and I am definitely proud to be one of those people. My condolences to your family and close friends, you will never be forgotten, I know I won't forget you!

Met John when he moved to Florida and I was Mid~Coast Basketball Booking Commissioner. I Booked him with me for a game at Titusville High. He was an excellent official. When I was an Administrator with the FHSAA I assigned him and Dick Martin to the Class 4-A Championship Game. To this day that was the "best" officiated game ever. Used him and Dick a couple of more times. He was a great guy and I thank God He allowed our paths to cross. RIP old friend.

Mr. Tuttle was truly amazing. Not only a great leader, educator and principal, but a truly genuine and kind person.

I remember one of my last days at Bayside High School before graduation. I walked up to him and asked him if he could sign my yearbook. I didn´t even say my name and without missing a beat he took the yearbook and wrote me a very kind message and included my name.

I remember being extremely shocked because in a school with thousands of kids, he knew my name. And he spelled it right!

Make no mistake about it he inspired generations of kids and left an amazing legacy of strong leadership and kindness.

My condolences to his family.

Always,
