John Wayne Tuttle, 76, of Indialantic, Florida went to Heaven on July 15, 2025, at home with his loving family at his side. John was born on November 29, 1948 in Winchester, Kentucky, the son of Marcus and Carrie Tuttle. John married his high school sweetheart Karlene in 1969. After graduating from Morehead State University, he was a teacher and football coach at Paul Blazer High School for seven years. John moved to Florida with his family in 1980. He was a teacher and coach of football, baseball, and golf at Palm Bay High School before becoming the Assistant Principal in charge of discipline. Coach Tuttle led his 1985 baseball team to the state championship. Following Palm Bay High School, he was Assistant Principal at Cocoa Beach High, Principal at Mila Elementary, Principal at Southwest Middle School, and Principal at Bayside High. He helped design and build Heritage High School, and after graduating the first senior class, after 40 years in education, Principal Tuttle retired. John was also a notorious basketball referee, reffing several State Tournament championship games. He was an avid golfer who could shoot his age and also shares a hole in one plaque with his son Lance and grandson Cole at Spessard Holland Golf Course.
John was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Mark. John is survived by his wife Karlene of 55 years, son Lance (Tammy), daughter Brooke (Chad), ten grandchildren Rylee, Carli, Cole, Caden, Remi, Hunter, Hudson, Halyn, Halle, Heidi, and sister Connie Parent (Rex).
A celebration of life for our beloved John will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 2:00pm, at the Melbourne Church of Christ, 810 Hollywood Boulevard. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Melbourne Church of Christ.

Extremely sad to hear of Coach Tuttle´s passing. We attended all the Palm Bay High baseball games from 1983 to 1985. We were on the 1985 championship team. The love of family and friends will support your family in your time of grief.

Met John when he moved to Florida and I was Mid~Coast Basketball Booking Commissioner. I Booked him with me for a game at Titusville High. He was an excellent official. When I was an Administrator with the FHSAA I assigned him and Dick Martin to the Class 4-A Championship Game. To this day that was the "best" officiated game ever. Used him and Dick a couple of more times. He was a great guy and I thank God He allowed our paths to cross. RIP old friend.

Mr. Tuttle gave me my chance in public schools teaching in 2009. He made me feel like an immediate family member and mentored me through his last years of being the principal of Heritage High. Godspeed my friend!

Mr Tuttle visited Spessard Holland Golf Course all the time. He always made it a point to stop in and say hello to me. Always had a story or a joke. Never took things seriously. He was a joy to talk with and I always looked forward to his stories. I will miss you Mr Tuttle , Godspeed and bless your family. Michael Grande

Mr. Tuttle was truly amazing. Not only a great leader, educator and principal, but a truly genuine and kind person.

I remember one of my last days at Bayside High School before graduation. I walked up to him and asked him if he could sign my yearbook. I didn´t even say my name and without missing a beat he took the yearbook and wrote me a very kind message and included my name.

I remember being extremely shocked because in a school with thousands of kids, he knew my name. And he spelled it right!

Make no mistake about it he inspired generations of kids and left an amazing legacy of strong leadership and kindness.

My condolences to his family.

Always,
Tyana Johnson

John was a good friend and encourager. Everything he did and said was covered in integrity. May God´s hand be on you as I know from our conversations you were a man of faith. David M. Piccolo, retired Area-2 Supt. Brevard County Schools.
