Jack Stumbo Obituary
The son of Henry and Ratie Stumbo, and brother to Yvonne Jones, Jack is survived by his son, David Hill Stumbo, and grandchildren, Myles Onoue Stumbo and Ella Ruth Atkins-Stumbo.
In his younger years, Jack was an avid athlete and enthusiast who enjoyed playing softball, refereeing college football, driving sports cars, golfing, and reading historical nonfiction. A devoted family man, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer at his son's and grandchildren's athletic events.
Jack honorably served in the U.S. Army with deployments in West Germany and Vietnam. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to the U.S. Postal Service, serving as Postmaster in both Prestonsburg and Versailles, Kentucky. He was a proud graduate of Floyd County High School and Morehead State University.
In his later years, Jack received excellent care from the staff of the Thompson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Kentucky. Memorial services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home in Frankfort at a date to be announced this summer.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
