John was a loving father to Remington and a loving fiance' and life partner to me. The following is my tribute to a wonderful man who will be deeply missed.
It is with the deepest sadness that I have to share that mine and Remington's world has been turned upside down. On Sunday, John was taken from us in an accident here at our home while working on his truck. The only thing bringing me peace is knowing that he did not suffer in any way.
Throughout the past nearly six years we have both grown so much individually and together, to build a fantastic life together. One thing is for certain- we made an AWESOME team. Never to shy away from a tough project (always involving lots of cuss words), he was a man to always figure things out and get the job done. His ability to tinker and be Mr. Fix-It was one of his many charming characteristics.
He was deeply passionate about his skilled trade of welding. Always quick to point out "terrible weld jobs" whenever we went anywhere, seriously I mean it- anywhere. Some would call him cocky I'm sure, but I must give him props and say that he was a damn good Welder.
If I didn't mention his love for Corvettes, he would be very disappointed. I do believe this obsession might be a genetic thing as Remington also suffers from O.C.D. (Obsessive Corvette Disorder).
Throughout the past two years, we have worked tirelessly to restore a historical building in downtown Lewisburg to bring a new vibe to the food scene of Marshall County. Thanks to John's willingness to be a taste tester, I was able to create an irresistible sourdough loaf after many many failed attempts, which lead us to the path of working to open Crumbs Bakery & Café.
Our last day spent together as a family of three was Father's Day. I find that very fitting; if you knew only one fact about John, it was that he was an amazing dad to Remington. We started the day with me cooking his favorite "fancy breakfast"- Eggs Benedict and drinking mimosas. Even though he mostly lived off of gas station food and energy drinks until we met, he quickly became a fan of fancy dishes, happy to eat anything (except mushrooms) that I put in front of him- and the man NEVER turned down a glass of champagne.
Cornersville Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
