John M. Ulrich passed away on June 5, 2024, in Madison, Wisconsin, at the age of 72. He was the son of Robert and Theo (Harwood) Ulrich and was born on August 1, 1951, in Richland Center, Wisconsin.
A graduate of New Lisbon High School in 1969, John's thirst for knowledge and skill development led him to earn an associate's degree in tool design from a technical college in La Crosse, Wisconsin. His education laid the foundation for a successful and fulfilling career. John worked as a tooling engineer at Farnum/Freudenberg for 39 years before retiring in 2017. His expertise and dedication to his profession were evident to all who worked alongside him.
John's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He was an avid sports fan, loyally supporting the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers. He enjoyed riding on the utv, spending precious time with his grandchildren, and embracing the tranquility of the hunting camp at the wildlife refuge. John enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he cherished the moments he spent playing softball for many years where he was commonly referred to as Sal.
John's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his loved ones and his community. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kelly Ulrich of New Lisbon, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He was a proud father to his sons, Jarod (Bobbi Jo) Ulrich and Trevor (Anastacia) Ulrich, both of New Lisbon. His brother, Neil Ulrich, also of New Lisbon, will fondly remember John's camaraderie and support. John had a close bond with his nephew, Chris (Lisa) Ulrich, and he held a special place in the hearts of his mother and father-in-law, Sandra (Gary) Schaper, and brother and sister-in-law, Brad (Janie) Bever. His legacy will live on through his adored grandchildren, Cash, Jaxton, Jett, Leila, and Link, and his nieces Taylor, Callie, and great-niece and nephew, Krista, and Jacob. John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in-law Darleen, and his great-niece Kaitlyn Ulrich.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. The Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences are available at www.harefuneralhome.com

As a kid, John liked to laugh and make others laugh. I can remember him dancing in a circle and singing a boogie version of "Can't get enough of that Sugar Crisp". Rest in Peace, John.

I´m saddened to hear of the passing of John. He was such a good natured guy when I would see him in my youth I remember him playing with me and JIM and Tom, Reisenauer. I remember one time on the school bus we were coming or going to a game or something and he and bill miller were singing Beatles song, rain, paperback writer. He was a funny guy. He was a nice guy once again my condolences to his family.
