John was preceded in death by his wife, Taylor Dewanna Thompson; parents, George John and Evangeline Nichols Vafinis; and sister, Sophia Shelton..
He is survived by his siblings, Victoria Vafinis Horne, Andrea Vafinis Tramel, and Frank George Vafinis; stepchildren, Toddman S. Thompson (Cindy), Monaire Murphy (Richard), and Ty R. Thompson (Telina); nieces and nephews, Andy Underwood, Jennifer Adams, Erik Tramel, Hunter Tramel, and Spencer Vafinis; and great-nephew, Zack Watson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org/donate.
