I consider "Big John" as my professional mentor. He was the first manager that taught me the ropes. Never shy to express his opinions and provide guidance in the middle of the night when I was brand new to the company. Always there to support me and my family during my time in Louisiana. Truly a great man. Genuine, honest, and truthful. Qualities that are hard to find these days. We will miss you John. Love always, The Alvarado Family.

Sending my condolences to John´s family. John was always an amazing partner to work with in Alek. We had the best of times and he shared a lot of great knowledge. I will always remember him as a beacon of excellence and dedication to us at Union Pacific.
May you rest in peace my `big brother´. You will be missed!

He was my manager at UP. Definitely a man that would go out of his way to help you any way he could. He didn't let his title take away from his true caring nature. Rest easy Big John, you will be missed on the railroad.
