John Tom Vera

John Tom (Tommy) Vera, 82, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026. He was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Bertha Kerich and John Vera and was raised in Superior, Arizona. Later in life, he made Chandler, Arizona, his home.

John built a life centered on faith, family, and a strong work ethic. He earned his GED and worked many years as a miner at the Magma Mine in Superior. He also worked as a production operator at Roger's and later as a security guard for Allied Barton, working until the age of 82.

A devoted man of God, John loved his family above all else. He was a loyal Arizona sports fan who cheered for the Cardinals, Diamondbacks, and Suns. He also enjoyed buying lottery tickets and watching old Western movies.

John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosa; his children John (Kim), Michael (Melissa), Bobbie, and Nancy; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, JT.

Visitation will be held March 19, 2026, from 9–11 a.m. at Superior Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, with a luncheon afterward at the Superior VFW.

His legacy of devotion and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
