John Verstrate Jr.

Age 77, of Lockport passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, November 3, 2025. Born and raised in Sheboygan, WI where he lived most of his life, and a resident of the Lago Vista Community in Lockport, IL for the past nine years. He worked for Polar Ware Company for over 40 dedicated years retiring in 2013. After retiring he moved to Illinois in 2016 to be closer to family. He spent lots of time at the Lago pool with dear friends that he made. An avid Green Bay Packers fan, but his favorite teams were the ones his grandchildren played on. John found so much joy watching his grandchildren's sporting events and special performances. He was always their biggest fan.

Preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Helen (nee VanDeKreeke) Verstrate; one sister, Shirley Ledeboer.

Survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Nancy (nee Byla) Verstrate; two loving children, Chris (Kadie) Verstrate, and Kelly (Josh) Lenarz; nine cherished grandchildren, Madeline, Jake, Luke, Lilly, and Ahmiya Verstrate, and Peyton, Casey, Dylan, and Ryder Lenarz; two sisters, Gail (late Shawn) Florian, and Johnette (Tom) VanHaveren; brother-in-law, Richard Ledeboer; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chicago Christian Schools in John's name.

Cremation Rites have been respectfully addressed.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in the O'Neil Funeral Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. (159th St.) Lockport, IL 60441, from 1:00pm until 5:00pm.
