John Clarence Voelker, age 69, passed on February 22nd 2026. Born on January 9th, 1957 in Grayling, MI to Velda Marie Voelker and John Conrad Voelker. John grew up in Houghton Lake, Michigan alongside his feisty and friendly sister, Carrie and older brother, Dale, playing football, riding snowmobiles and getting up to no good with his friends!
In 1979, John married a cute little catholic girl he spotted years before, Diane Servas. They shared 50 years of their life together going on vacations to the East Coast, the mountains in Colorado, cruises, many rock concerts and to Lake Missinaibi, Ontario Canada to a fishing lodge his father built in the early 50’s.
John and Diane settled in Bellaire, MI in 1986 after his long running job with Amerigas had an opening in the area. He recalled loving the rolling hills and many lakes the region had to offer. After John’s 20+ year career came to an end in the propane business he started working at Shanty Creek Resorts as the Director of Engineering and Association Manager. John strived to bring in as many local workers as he could, hoping to boost the local economy in his own way.
John and Diane had two girls, Angela and Lisa, but it wasn’t until, Audriana Marie, his granddaughter came along that he found his favorite role in life - grandpa. John was an avid reader and loved bringing Audi to the local library for her first library card.
Please join us on March 7th at the Summit Resort for a “Celebration of Life,” from 2pm-5pm. We are going to send him off with a party and lots of rock music - be prepared to toast to this amazing man who was loved by many.
John is survived by his wife, Diane, two daughters, Angela and Lisa, a granddaughter, Audi and his brother Dale, He is preceded by his mother, father and sister, Carrie.
In lieu of flowers please donate in John’s name to the Bellaire Public Library or The American Cancer Society.
