JOHN PETER VOSS 11/25/1925 - 09/03/2025 John P. Voss, who was 99 years old of West Branch, MI, passed away from natural causes in West Branch, MI. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI, on November 25, 1925, to Alton and Catherine Voss. John's life was noted for his honesty and love for his family. He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater and then joined the Michigan State Police after returning from World War II. John then furthered his career by working for Consumers Power, now called Consumers Energy, as an investigator and finally retiring in West Branch, Michigan. John was an active member of the Bay City Evangelical Free Church and, in his later years, at Calvary Baptist Church of West Branch. John was preceded in death by his beloved first wife of 65 years, Betty Dawn Voss. Surviving are his wife Betty Ann (Bell) Voss of West Branch, daughter Arlynne (Rodney) Nowland of Perrysburg, Ohio, and sons Bruce (Jeanann) Voss of West Branch, Michigan, and Brent (Deborah) Voss of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Aaron (Rachel) Nowland, Adam (Katie) Nowland, Alizabeth (Jon) Meerdink, Lindsey Voss, Kristine Voss, Nathan (Stephanie) Voss, Aubrie (Michael) Hornbeck, Russell Voss, Logan Voss, and ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home, 109 E. Houghton Ave, West Branch, MI. The funeral service and military honors will be held at Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church, 3480 W. M-76, West Branch, MI, on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at the church at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Harvey Fry will officiate. A lunch will be provided after the service. The final interment will be Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Pierson Cemetery in Pierson, Michigan. All friends and loved ones are welcome to his celebration of life at John's interment. A special thanks to the caring staff at The Villa at West Branch and Compassus Hospice.
