John W. "Jack" Walsh

Jack Walsh, 78, died February 28, 2026, in Rochester, NY. Born and raised in the Rochester area, Jack was quick witted, loved to kid around, and never lost his enthusiasm for the latest tech.

He loved computers and gadgets, and he made a tradition of buying the newest iPhone and handing his previous one down to his grandchildren. Later in life, he took up sailing and enjoyed motoring around the Charlotte pier. He loved camping trips to the Adirondacks and the Finger Lakes, often paired with wine tasting. An avid golfer, he belonged to many leagues and joked that he played better after having a few. He also loved working out, with Body Pump as his favorite class. Jack adored dachshunds, especially his beloved dachshund, Lily, who returned that love with endless kisses.

Jack enjoyed being part of the community and in his earlier years, belonged to Kiwanis Club and served on the Spencerport Planning Board.

Jack was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Erbelding, and his father, William Walsh. He is survived by his children, Kelly Walsh, Susan Shur, and John (Kelly) Walsh; grandchildren Kyia, Ryan, and Sean Walsh, and Ben and Brianna (fiancé Andrew Cook) Shur; siblings Ruth (Dick) Miller, Judy (Jeff) Bruinsma, Jim (Karen) Lynch, and Mary Walsh; and several nieces and nephews. His warm, social, good-natured spirit will be deeply missed.

Calling hours will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Profetta Funeral Chapel, 1650 Empire Boulevard, Webster, NY 14580, with a service to follow immediately afterward at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
