About a month prior to John's passing he called me and said let´s get the guys together for breakfast. This is something I generally would schedule a couple times a year.
I believe John knew it would be the last time for us all to be together. John was our brother and loved by all he touched. We were all together for decades working as public servants for the City of Rochester. We will miss you John. See you on the other side my brother.

What a guy!
John and I worked together for decades with the City of Rochester.
John was the consummate self made man. His work ethic was legendary. If you wanted a job done and done right, you assigned it to John.
Some people withdraw or avoid challenges and additional responsibilities. Not John. He loved a challenge and took on additional responsibilities like a man on a mission. John ate responsibility for breakfast.
When he was assigned a difficult project he would walk into my office with a sheet of paper and say "these are the material and equipment we need to do this... Alright?"
My answer was always the same: "you've got it John, go to it."
And go to it, he did!
John was a self starter and the hardest worker I'd ever seen. I often asked myself "doesn't he ever get tired?".
John would, on occasion, walk into my office and say: "Hey boss let's take a ride, I want to show you something".
My heart rate would increase and I'd think to myself: "Oh boy, this is going to be good". And it always was.
I miss my old friend. A man like John you don't see every day. He was special, very special.
At the end of day before he went home, he would stick his head in my office and say: "l'm head'n home boss.... See ya on the rebound."
Marilyn, thank you for sharing this special man with us. What a guy!
Rest in peace My friend....
See ya on the rebound.
