John Wilbur Warner III

Husband, Dad, and Grandpa, John Wilbur Warner III, age 72, passed away on January 8, 2026,

surrounded by those who loved him. He was born on January 29, 1953, at Ball Memorial

Hospital in Muncie, Indiana, to his parents, Wilbur Warner II and Juanita Warner.

He was married to his beloved wife, Brenda Warner, for 51 years, whom he married on

February 8, 1974, and together they shared a life of laughter and loads of love. Survived by his

three children, Brandon (Tracey), Blake (Samantha), and Ashley (Joe), and a playful

grandfather to seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandson. He is

also survived by his mother-in-law, Thelma Morehous who considered him a son.

He was a graduate of Union High School in Modoc, Indiana, Class of 1971. Throughout his life,

he was known for his strong work ethic, devotion to family, and commitment to his community.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father of Losantville, IN, and an older sister, Carol

Hinshaw, of Lewistown, MO.

He owned and operated his own contractor business for many years, including building the

family home where his children were raised. He later worked for Parker-Hannifin for 22 years,

retiring to spend more time with his wife and family.

Deeply involved in his community, he was an active member of Spartanburg Christian Church.

One of his most cherished spiritual moments was being baptized in Short's Pond in the middle

of January, after Mike Booher broke through the ice to make it possible. He also served his

community faithfully as a school board member for more than 10 years.

In his free time, he loved riding his Harley with his wife, cooking and barbecuing, gardening, and

refereeing high school basketball and umpired baseball in his younger years.

The family would like to give special thanks to Rosebud Village and Southern Care Hospice in

Richmond, Indiana for the care and love that was given to him.

A service to celebrate John's life will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester with Ron Roberts officiating on January 14, 2026. Burial will follow at Spartanburg Cemetery. Family and friends may gather and share from 12 to 2 on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in John's memory to Alzheimer's Association (225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601) and Spartanburg Christian Church (6714 E 700 S, Lynn, IN 47355).
