John Watson, age 74, of Clarksburg, WV, died Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born June 16, 1951, in Buckhannon, WV a son of the late John Edward and Mabel Lucille Jeffries Posey. On April 12, 1980, he married Dawnetta Tenney who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Amanda Marteny and husband Steven of Clarksburg, Sarah Bice and husband Willie of Wallace, WV and Jessica Mayle and husband Corey of Buckhannon; three grandchildren, Evan Marteny of Clarksburg, Alyssa Mayle of Buckhannon and Tristan Mayle of Buckhannon; one brother, Jack Watson and wife Dona of Rock Cave, WV; several half brothers and sisters; three nephews, David Watson of Buckhannon, William Shanabarger of Rock Cave, and Delbert Ware and wife Rhonda of Talbot, WV and beloved fur babies, Gypsy Rose, Bodie, Sadie Bell and Boo Boo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Michael Watson. Mr. Watson was a Truck Driver and attended the Century Community Church. He loved watching his grandkids play baseball and enjoyed fishing, hunting, mudding, and anything outdoors. Friends will be received Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday at the funeral home at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery in Hemlock, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
