JD was one of the best NCO's that I've know in my 35 years in the Army. His name should have been baby face Nelson. He had the youngest looking face that I've ever seen.
The world has lost a great NCO, and more importantly a great person . His laughter will be deeply missed, and his spirit will always live in in our memory.

JD has been a friend of mines for over 35 years. JD was a very kindhearted man. He showed his love to his family, his children and grandchildren and anybody that knew him. I will miss our talks, and the special bond we had in the common things we shared. The 99th Signal Family has lost a Good Soldier, a great family man and a great friend. My buddy is no longer in any pain, you´ve gained your wings. You´ve done all you can do, so take your rest no more worries. I will miss you dearly,
May you rest in eternal peace, until we meet again.
My sincerest condolences to the family of John Derek Williams,
You are in my prayers.
