John M. Williams passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 88. Well-loved for his sense of humor and creative tale-spinning, he brought joy to all who knew him. John was a loving husband to the late Margaret Williams and a devoted father to his children: John (Marie) Williams Jr., Thomas (Dori) Williams, Tammi (Jim) Palmeri and Jami (Tom) Ellermann.   John (“Poppy” to his children) was born in Flushing, NY to the late Frank and Lillian Williams. Working as a machinist, he put himself through night school at Benchley College. Partnering with his late brother Frank, he opened the seminal Long Island Country & Western nightclub “Club Nashville” in the early 1970s (long before “Urban Cowboy” brought new popularity to the genre). However, in his heart, he was a life-long Sinatra fan — and had the blue eyes to match. Later in life, he worked as a security guard and successfully thwarted an armed robbery. At home, he was an obsessive tinkerer and developed several ingenious personal inventions along the way.   John cherished spending time with his family and embraced every moment with them. He created countless memories that will be forever treasured by his loved ones. His three grandchildren Jim, Lindsay and Sarah were blessed to have known their grandfather's warmth and love.

The Williams family invites friends and well-wishers to honor John's memory during the visitation service that will take place on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 at Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729. The visitation will commence at 7:00 PM and conclude at 9:30 PM. Following this service, a burial ceremony will be held on November 17th, 2023 at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, NY. The burial will start at 10:30 AM and conclude at 11:30 AM. Pinelawn Memorial Park is situated at 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735.

John M. Williams will forever be remembered as a loving husband, caring father, and doting grandfather. His presence will continue to be felt through the memories he leaves behind. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate and honor the remarkable life he lived and the positive impact he had on those around him.
