John Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tim Stewart Funeral Home - Lawrenceville on Jan. 9, 2026.
John Dwight Williams, Jr, a devoted farmer, loving family man, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, on the same farm on which he was born.

Born July 14,1933, in Dacula, Georgia. Dwight, as he was affectionately called, spent his life working the land he loved. Farming was more than an occupation to him-it was a calling. Through long days and early mornings, he demonstrated the values of hard work, perseverance, and gratitude for God's provision. He believed the soil was a gift from the Lord and treated it with respect and care.

Above all else, Dwight cherished his family. He was a devoted son, husband/father/grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was always an example of steady guidance, quiet wisdom, and unconditional love. His family was his greatest earthly blessing, and he took pride in teaching them the importance of faith, integrity, and kindness.

Dwight's life was rooted in his faith in Jesus. He faithfully served as a Deacon at both Hebron and Ebenezer Baptist Churches. He lived humbly, prayed faithfully, and served others with a gentle heart. Whether through his church, his community, or simple acts of generosity, he reflected Christ's love in everyday ways. His faith gave him peace in life and comfort in death.

Dwight attended Lawrenceville Elementary School and Dacula Schools. He was a proud graduate of Decatur Boys High, class of 1950.

Dwight served his country in the United States Army from 1952-54. He retired from Dupont Paints in Tucker Ga where he was employed for 27 years. As an example of his loyalty, he missed one day in the 27 years due to an allergic reaction to the company flu shot.

He was preceded in death by his parents, JD and Buel Stanley Williams, brothers Roger

and Orth Williams, and sister, Mattieleen Sorrow.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years Eloise Wages Williams, sister Nyra Whelchel of Melbourne, Fl. Sisters-in- law, Barbara Williams, Dacula and Nellie Wages, Auburn. He will be truly missed by his children Faith Brooks, Dacula, John D. (Mercy) Bethlehem, Candace Davis (Jerry) Dacula, Stanley Williams, Tunnel Hill, Jenna Black (Clanton), Stone Mountain and Robert Williams (Sheila), Dacula. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Jad, Stuart, Graham (Tatum), Hope (Ryan), Jake (Clarissa), Chavis (Lauryn), Josh (Tara), Danny (Skylar), Garrett (Jessica), Logan (Mary), Jasmine, Sarah Catherine (Alex), and Candler. Great-grandchildren Lauralie and Raylan Brooks, Penelope, John Dwight IV, Camden and Adeline Williams, Luke and Avery Bilthouse, Frankie Davis, Ellie and Ethan Williams, Chance, Ava and Anderson Williams, Charlotte and Elijah Williams, and Sawyer Williams. Many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family deeply appreciates the wonderful caregivers who cared for Dwight over the last two years, Patricia Jode, Marianne St Hillaire and Misty Jones.

A graveside service of life will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 1:00 pm at The Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Fence Road, Dacula Road. Reverend Steve Ferguson will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Lawrenceville Tim Stewart Funeral Home on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the non-profit Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund, 1635 Winder Hwy, Dacula, GA 30019
