John Daniel Wilson, 72, of Amherst, Texas, entered eternal life on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in Muleshoe, Texas. He was born on November 09, 1953, in Haltom City, Texas to 'Melvin' Howard and 'Janet' Marie Wilson.

John married his adoring wife, Kara Springer Wilson, on May 3, 1979, in Plainview, Texas. He was a hard-working man. He was Chief of Police in Amherst, Texas and in Crosbyton, Texas. John dedicated 30 years of life to service in law enforcement, and he was also a mechanic. He also worked in Henderson County, as well as Tool, Texas in his career within law enforcement. John and Kara moved to Littlefield, Texas in 2006. To many who knew John, he was a man that was an all-around great and talented person. He enjoyed hunting and camping. Second, to spending time with his family, John enjoyed being outdoors. Animals had a special place in John's heart, especially dogs.

John and Kara had two daughters to share their lives with. He spoiled them in every way, but mostly with thoughtful love. His love grew deeper with the blessings of having eight grandchildren. To his grandchildren, John was known as 'Papa John.' Furthermore, he had a wonderful sense of humor. John gained happiness by making people laugh while telling jokes. Aside from being full of humor, John was also known to be a matter-of-fact kind of person. He was straightforward, but always with the best intentions. Kindness was a remarkable characteristic that John possessed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kara Wilson of Amherst, Texas; two daughters, Janet Gloyd and Justin of Amherst, Texas, Sha Wilson of Littlefield, Texas; eight grandchildren, JJ, Emily, Hudson, Isaac, Bella, Jasper, Brylee, and Gatlin; two sisters, Margaret Manning of Cedar Creek Lake, Texas and Deborah Green of Houston, Texas. John was preceded in death by his parents, 'Melvin' Howard and 'Janet' Marie Wilson; and his sister, Amy Neveloff.
