John Wilson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Snellville on Jan. 15, 2026.
John Tyler Wilson, known to most as Tyler, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 11, 2026, while worshiping in church, peacefully beginning his journey to Heaven to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior. In his final months, Tyler was deeply committed to personal healing and spiritual renewal, walking forward with courage, faith, and hope. He touched the lives of many by courageously sharing his personal struggles, championing his faith, and mentoring others along their journeys. Tyler leaves a legacy of love, encouragement, and hope.
Raised in Gwinnett County, Tyler attended Brookwood High School, where he distinguished himself as a standout track star and Marine Corp JROTC member. He was bright, curious, and thoughtful, engaging others with intellect, wit, and genuine sincerity. Though his mind was sharp, his heart was even greater-overflowing with kindness and empathy for everyone around him. Though his time on earth was far too short, the impact of his life and the hope of his salvation will endure forever. A man of faith, Tyler's goals were simple yet profound: to serve God, start a family, and help others. He planned to return to school to pursue a career in nursing, driven by his desire to give back and care for those in need.
Tyler is survived by his loving mother, Sherry Moseley Wilson of Lawrenceville; his brother, Beau Wilson, his sister-in-law, Camille Wilson, and his niece, Vivienne Wilson of Dunwoody; his uncle and aunt, John and Giselle Moseley of Hoschton; and his aunt, Elaine Welch of Atlanta. He is also survived by five first cousins he adored: Shawn Moseley, Austin Moseley, Melony Westphal, Paul Welch, Jr., and Peggy Bush, along with many other beloved family members. In addition, Tyler leaves behind four nearly lifelong and deeply loyal friends: Zachary Allen, James Bowman, Jake Hamby, and Cole Mullis. He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Hollis Wilson, Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Peggy Wilson; and his maternal grandparents, John and JoAnne Moseley.
A private memorial service for family and close friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Tyler's memory to: Good Landing Recovery, 256 McMillan Rd. Dacula, GA 30019.

John Tyler was my first and best friend. I remember him always smiling, willing to share his toys, and pretend to be power rangers with me. Fly high my friend, you will be truly missed. -Kevin Miller
