John Wesley Wise

John Wesley Wise, age 90, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born May 22, 1934, in Aurora, Missouri, the son of Morris and Dorothy (Taylor) Wise.
John was a graduate of Aurora High School and was a United States Army Veteran. He worked in Maintenance for Bank of Aurora, Charter Bank, Boatman's Bank and Nations Bank retiring in 1996.
On July 8, 1957, he was united in marriage with Sue Bassore, in San Antinio, Texas.
John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sue; three daughters, Kim (Terry) Bagby of Aurora, Missouri, Sally Jessee of Aurora, Missouri and Lori (David) Tegarden of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Lyndy (Burt) Burtrum, Sarah (Matt) Rafferty, Kyle (Alyssa) Bagby and Clayton (Mia) Bagby; three great-grandchildren, Carson, Lauren and Brendon and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Morris, and Dorothy; brother, M.C. Wise; sister, Martha Toft and son-in-law, Herb Jessee.
John loved his family almost as much as he loved fishing. His fried Crappie was legendary. John also loved to piddle around in the garden, his sweet corn was also legendary. He liked nothing better but to sit on the porch at the house he built in 100-degree heat!
A graveside service under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, in Aurora, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the American Humane Society or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
