It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dr. John
Cromwell Wood, who left us on January 1, 2026 in the comfort of
his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. John was born June, 9, 1956
in Detroit, Michigan to Robert and Patricia Wood.
Dr. John Cromwell Wood was a Medical Doctor known for his
work in Internal Medicine and his sub speciality in Lipidology. He
was a beloved Husband to Morgan Wood and also touched the
lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and caring heart.
John had a passion for his work as a medical doctor for
over 40 years and had a true skill at helping people. He was
able to do this across the country in Tennessee, North
Carolina, Alabama, Texas, North Dakota, and New Mexico.
Dr. John Wood earned his undergraduate degree at Wayne
State, his Bachelor of Science in Zoology at Michigan
State, his residency at Kalamazoo and his Doctorate at The
College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University in Internal Medicine (with a Board
certified subspecialty in Lipidology).
In his free time he pursued his passion for art by serving on the board of various museums.
John had an incredible collection of music and also had a desire for exploration and travel.
Spending time with his Wife, 3 cats, dog, and pet turtle was a priority to John. Reading a new
book or flipping through MAD magazine was a treat to him. He enjoyed keeping up to date with
his brother and sisters by group chatting frequently. John was an equestrian who shared a
passion for horses with his sister, Dorothy.
John Cromwell Wood is survived by his wife, Morgan Wood, his brother Charles Wood, his
sisters Barbara Wood and Dorothy Campbell, his nieces Mellisa Campbell, Marguerite Wood-
Davis,Tracy and Camryn Wood along with his Nephew, T.J. Campbell.
Dr. John Wood’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service on January the 30th at 1:00 pm -
2:00 pm located at the Rivera Family Funeral home (305 Celle Salazar Esponola, New Mexico. )
