John D. Wouters, aged 81, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 29, 2025, at Eventide on 8th in Moorhead.
Born on February 12, 1944, in Hawley, MN, John was the son of Warren and Irene (Ernst) Wouters. After completing high school, he honorably served his country in the United States Army as a military policeman in Europe during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. In 1968, he married Rose (Thomas), and welcomed five children.
John dedicated many years to the concrete and construction industry before finding his calling as a long-haul trucker, a career he enjoyed for over 35 years, until his well-deserved retirement in 2019.
Throughout his life, John had a deep passion for the outdoors—he cherished fishing and hunting, and he spent countless hours in his workshop restoring classic vehicles. Relaxing at home, he delighted in watching old country western movies and episodes of M.A.S.H. A proud veteran, John fondly reminisced about his military service and the friendships he built during that time.
John is survived by his children: Tami (Doug) Kasten of Stewartville, MN, Stephanie (Jason) Henderson of Dickinson, ND, Cory (Mijin) Wouters of Katy, TX, Michael Wouters of Fargo, ND, and Nicole Wouters of Chicago, IL; Nine grandchildren, Teryl (Ken), Amanda (Kyle), Bradley, Ahzriel, Zariah, Briella, Nia, Colton, and Parker; and three great-grandchildren, Athren, Ashlynn, and Gavin; He is also survived by his brother, Ken (Sally) Wouters of Hawley, MN; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Irene Wouters; and his grandchild, Zoe Wouters.
A graveside service will be held at the Fargo National VA Cemetery at a later date.
