John Willice Yawn, age 89, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Patriot Hills Assisted Living in Oak Ridge. He was born January 11, 1936, in Dudley, Georgia to the late Silas and Bernice Yawn. John was a proud veteran of the Marine Corp and later joined the United States Navy retiring after 22 years of service. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, and lived on coffee, but the most important thing to him was his family, especially his grandbabies. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Yawn and his sister, Hilda Shepard.
He is survived by his sons, Brian Yawn and John Jeffery Yawn; brothers, Tommy Yawn and Donny Yawn; grandchildren, Brian "Joey" Yawn, Brandon Yawn, Jacqueline Archer, Madeline Yawn, and Carlie Daugherty; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews
The family will have a graveside service at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of all arrangements. Holleygamble.com
