Shannon Kevin Yawn, age 50, of Hazlehurst, Georgia, passed away on December 16, 2025, at Memorial Health Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. He was born on August 6, 1975, in McRae, Georgia, to the late Kendall Eugene Yawn Sr. and Bobbie Willis Yawn.
A funeral service to honor Kevin's life will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. with Elder Matt Yawn officiating. Interment will follow at the Yawn Family Cemetery in Hazlehurst. The family will visit with friends at Lowes Funeral Home on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
Kevin graduated high school and then his pursuit of higher education took him to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) and later to the police academy, where he prepared for a career in law enforcement that would become his calling.
Throughout his career, Kevin served with several departments, including the Lumber City PD, Glenwood PD, and Alamo PD. Shannon dedicated the longest tenure of his service to the Telfair County Sheriff's Office in McRae.
Kevin's life was anchored by his beloved wife, Angela Yawn of Hazlehurst, his loving children, Benjamin Yawn (Alex) of McRae, Matthew Dylan Yawn and Skyler James Yawn of Milan, Casey Lee Yawn of Mt. Vernon, Madison Nicole Yawn, and Kenith Ray Yawn of Hazlehurst. He is also survived by his brothers, Kendall Yawn, Jr. of Jesup, and Keith Yawn (Dana) of Cochran; his sisters, Donna Bailey (Edward) of Rex, Debra Yawn of Thomasville, and Karen Yawn (Ronnie Wynn) of Hawkinsville.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Kendall Eugene Yawn, Sr. and Bobbie Willis Yawn, as well as his brothers, Roy Willis and Daniel Stubbs.
Kevin's life was a reflection of his values: family, community, and service. Shannon Kevin Yawn's memory will be held in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched with his service and courage.
