John R. Yoest, 76, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at his home. John was born in Syracuse on December 8, 1947 to John & Gladys Yoest. He was a graduate of St. John the Baptist High School and Wadham's Hall Seminary College. He served as a Linguist in the United States Army from 1970 -1973. Throughout his life he worked a variety of careers including a computer programmer, a CNA and LPN. John had an array of hobbies including backpacking and camping, woodworking, baking, practicing his harmonica, and listening to train songs. He also enjoyed spending time with his loving family and friends, especially his grand dog Sammy.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judith Yoest, three daughters; Christine Yoest, Suzanne (Ken) Heenan, Allison (Chris) Spinelli, grandson, Joshua (Anne) Heenan, two great-grandsons, Brady & Theodore, his sisters, Nancy Yoest and Margaret (Stan) Yoest and 2 nephews, Christopher and Kevin.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Maurer Funeral Home, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 10:00 am in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 259 E. Onondaga St, Syracuse, NY 13202. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt, NY.
