I had the honor and pleasure of playing on the same basketball team with John at Le Moyne college. He was known as Ginner for some reason at that time. John was THE MAN on our team and whenever I attracted too much attention, he stepped in. I liked and respected John very much as he was always a person of great substance and I will never forget him.

To the Young Family,
On behalf of the Niland Family I want to extend to you our sincere condolences. My Dad , Coach Tom Niland was John´s basketball coach at LeMoyne College. Although I was a young boy at the time( 10 years old) I can still remember John playing. My Dad loved the way John played and often talked about his grit and toughness. As years went on my Dad was able to keep in touch with John and always had a deep respect for this truly great man.
My condolences again to the entire Young Family,
Tom Niland
