John Zanetti Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd. on Mar. 16, 2026.
John D. Zanetti, age 82, of Ford City, PA.

Beloved husband of 60 years to Arlene (Kreutzer) Zanetti; loving father of Michelle D. Zanetti and her partner Ronald S. Townsend, Jr.; grandfather of Kaitlin E. (Blake W.) Stover and the late W. Colbi (Surviving, Christina M. Toy) Cousins and Broc L. Cousins; great grandfather of Maddox Cousins, Lennox Cousins, Nixon Cousins, Axyl Koster and Paxton Toy; brother of Daniel Zanetti, Jr., Robert Zanetti, Elaine Zanetti, Thomas Zanetti, William "Butch" Zanetti, Dolly Zanetti, Elizabeth "Betty" Meyers, Shirley Green and the late Evelyn Zaboski; son of the late Daniel and Helen Zanetti. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

He was a dedicated husband and father and devoted his time to taking care of his beloved Arlene. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends. His life revolved around spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and being involved in their lives. Everyone looked forward to his daily calls which he rarely ever missed doing. You know who you are.

He loved fishing with his daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren or anyone he called a friend. Come hunting season John was out in the woods chasing the big one.

John loved to cook and looked forward to family dinners with everyone around the table. And anyone that knew him knew how much he loved his food, and don't forget the sweets. Family fish fries were his favorite.

John retired from his career as the assistant director of the United Steel Workers Union (USW). He got his start at Pullman Standard in Butler, Pa. At various times in his life, he served as the mayor of Ford City, and worked as a Ford City police officer.

John was a long term member of the Latin American Club in Ford City, PA.

His funeral will be private.
