The services celebrating an honoring the life of John Eugene Zook will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in the Waukomis Christian Church with Pastor David Jones officiating complete cremation care and services under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.
John was born October 3, 1951, to Howard W. and Irma Lee Maxwell Zook in Waynoka Oklahoma and passed from this life February 11, 2026, in Enid, Oklahoma.
He was raised and educated in Northwest Oklahoma following his father‘s carpentry career attending Hillsdale schools and graduating from Kremlin High School in 1965. He then attended college for one year and worked various jobs and later at the Cherokee power plant. He married Elaine June 5, 1971, in the Central Christian Church, Enid, Oklahoma. The family made their home in Enid. In the same year he enlisted in the United States Army and later the Air Force for a combined thirty years of honorable service to our country after his retirement from the United States Air Force, he returned to college, while also working eight to twelve hours a day, at UCO and achieved his bachelor’s degree in business then master’s degree in safety. He worked at ET opportunities as director at Vance Air Force Base for Horton then DynCorp then later CSC before retiring October 31, 2013. He was a 32nd degree mason, Union representative for IAMAW International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers and was a Licensed Lay minister and was Pastor at Union Chapel and in Goltry. He also owned a backhoe company. He was a natural “people person” and never me a stranger.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Zook, of the home, on son Jody “Jo” Zook and his wife Louise, of Enid, his grandchildren; one brother Pete Zook, of Havilland, Kansas, one sister Barbara James, of South Haven, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Erma Zook, one sister Alma Dickson, one aunt and two uncles.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the Waukomis Chistian Church or the Masonic Lodge with Brown-Cummings, serving as custodian of the funds.
