John had a passion for sports and led an active life. He was an umpire and an amateur boxer, known for his love of competition and sportsmanship. John was also an avid fisherman and cherished the time he spent living in Sea Isle, where he and Colleen raised their daughters. He also started his beloved business, "Island Produce." His 1981 Regal Blue Chevy Malibu was a car he truly loved, and he enjoyed playing roller hockey at the Parkwood rink as part of the Decatur Dogs team. A devoted sports fan, he was particularly passionate about the Phillies and Flyers.
During his time in Sea Isle, John faced many health challenges, beginning at a very young age and continuing for many years. He was knocked down time and again, but he always persevered. He was known as a fighter, overcoming obstacles that most people would not have survived.
After years of struggle and hardship, and with the support of his brother, Michael Yaeger, John embraced a new life of sobriety, which he took great pride in. He also found fulfillment in his work as a roofer with Yaeger Roofing. He became a source of strength for others, helping those in need.
John was incredibly grateful for his second chance at life, which allowed him to spend precious time with his loved ones. His grandsons, Anthony and Vincent, were his pride and joy. He cherished watching them grow, play sports, and helping guide them to become the kind, compassionate, strong men they are today.
John overcame countless hardships throughout his life and always pushed through for his family. He was incredibly proud of his journey to sobriety, and even though he faced illness shortly after his diagnosis, his strength and determination remained steadfast until the very end.
