Johnathan Glen Jones was born on March 17, 1969, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Glen Dale Jones and Yvonne Ann Mays-Jones. John attended grade school in Hobart, Oklahoma, and moved from Hobart to Yukon, Oklahoma, until age 14. He attended El Reno VO Tech School to study computers while in 7th grade.
He moved to Odessa, Texas, with his mom and stepdad at 15 years old and attended Permian High School. John moved to Laredo, Texas, with his mom and stepdad and attended Laredo United High School, where he graduated at age 17 with a GED in order to transfer to Texas A&M University Technical School in Waco, Texas, where he studied mechanical engineering. He later transferred to McClenden Community College to study music.
After completing his education in Waco, Texas, he moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he worked for ALTEC Computer Company as a computer technician. The company was sold several years later. He and his brother James Jones started their own construction business (Jones Construction) until his brother passed suddenly from illness. John continued his construction business until late 2020 when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He passed peacefully on August 23, 2025, with his mom at his bedside.
