Johnathan Jacob Nichols, 43, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 18, 2024, at his residence. He was born September 19,1980 in Newberry, South Carolina.
Johnathan loved his family and friends and was willing to help anyone even when he was not able to. He enjoyed the sport of fishing,and building computers, but his biggest passion was tinkering with cars, his and anyone else's that happen to end up at his house. Johnathan had also developed a strong passion for history and politics over the past several years. He wasted no time expressing his opinion about either. If he wanted you to know something, he didn’t mind telling you just like it was.
Johnathan was the son of Wilbur A. “Billy” Nichols and Penney Waites Nichols of Newberry, In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Benjamin Lee (Hannah) Nichols of Pomaria, a half sister, Christina (Mike) Holcombe of Anderson, and a half brother, Alan (Christy) Nichols of Easley. Niece’s are Meghan and Reese Nichols, Jordan and Katie Holcombe, and Kristenlyn (Dale) Tench: a nephew, Bryce Nichols. He is also survived by his aunts, Amy Waites Russell, Ann Nichols (Jeff) Spotts,and an uncle, Johnny (Tammy) Nichols. Also cousins, LeAnna C.(Brian) Willard, Jessie (Sami) Russell, Jacob Cockrell, and Zach (Shelby) Spotts. Johnathan also leaves behind a very loving, and special friend, Jennifer Kinard.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 21st, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home from 4-6 pm.
The funeral service for Johnathan will be held on Monday, January 22nd, at 11:00, am at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, by Pastor Jeff O'Dell. Burial will follow in the Newberry Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pomaria Rescue Squad, PO Box 192, Pomaria SC 29126.
Anyone who knew Johnathan, knew that he was not a dress up kind of guy and are welcome to come casual.
The family is at the residence of his parents, at 3259 College Street, Newberry SC.
Active pallbearers will be Jessie Russell, Brian Willard, Tristen Doolittle, Donnie Long, Nick Waites, and Zach Spotts.
