Mr. Johnie "John B." Bolen, 75, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, in Oxford, MS. A private family service will be held at a later date. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
John B. was born January 19, 1948, in Pontotoc, MS. Throughout his life, he developed a personality like no other. He grew up an extremely hard worker and ended up proudly dedicating over 15 years of his life to Southwide Construction working as a Heavy Equipment Operator. His outgoing personality made him many friends throughout his life, especially in the Coontown area, where he was commonly known as the "Coontown Mayor." Along with his personality, John B. was also known to have the best deer jerky around!
John B. was an avid outdoorsman, who spent the entirety of his life hunting and fishing. He spent every second he could in the outdoors. John B. loved his life on and near the water and could often be found helping others back their boat trailers down the boat ramp. He also had a love for gardening and had a knack for growing the most amazing tomatoes. Above all, he loved his family. John B. enjoyed nothing more than spending the day with his family cooking and watching NASCAR or sports. He made an impact on every person he came in contact with and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
John B. is survived by his daughter, Heather (Matt Klow) Bolen Benjamin of Oxford; his granddaughter, Destiny Riley (Robert) Griffin of Water Valley, MS; his grandson, Heath Garner Benjamin of Oxford; two great-granddaughters, Haisley Griffin and Ava Riley Griffin, both of Water Valley; and a host of extended family members and beloved friends.
John B. was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Cortez Bolen and Lottie Pearl Bolen; and his sister, Joyce Bolen Patrick.
Donations and memorials in honor of Johnie "John B." Bolen may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.donate.lovetotherescue.org).
