Johnie Marie Hyche Sides, a beloved mother, grandmother, family member, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the age of 85. Marie was born on March 6, 1940 in a mining camp in Barney, Alabama and lived a life marked by love, strength, and devotion to those around her.

Johnnie Marie was known for her kind heart, warm spirit, and unwavering care for her family. She found joy in the simple things-time spent with loved ones, sharing stories and laughter, and offering help whenever it was needed. Her presence brought comfort and reassurance, and her memory will remain a guiding light for all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons: Lawrence (Renee), John, Mark (Amy); grandchildren: Payton Sides, Kaylee Sides, Maghann Brown, Danielle (Aaron) Strickland, Josh (Brianna) Sides, Sarah (Drew) Styles, Edward (Brooki) Sides, and Alexander Sides. Great-Grandchildren: Gracelynn, Madalyn, Jantzen, Baylor, June, Kameron, Anastasia, Reagan. Hunter, Baylei, and Sawyer.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Lawrence Ray Sides and son Tim Sides.

A celebration of Marie's life will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Dovertown Freewill Baptist Church, she will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Following the graveside service, a fellowship meal will be held at the home of Lawrence and Renee Sides. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Great Nephew Bubba Hallman will officiate the celebration of Marie.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and kindness during this time. Johnnie Marie Hyche Sides will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A special thank you to the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department, Dovertown Freewill Baptist Church and the nurses, doctors and staff at UAB/St. Vincent's.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Payton Sides, Edward Sides, Alexander Sides, Josh Sides, Drew Styles, great-grandson Hunter Brown and honorary pallbearer Aaron Strickland.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Dovertown Freewill Baptist Church. Family and friends will be received at the home of Lawrence and Renee Sides, 2121 River Road, Cordova.
