Johnnie Faye McElroy Lang

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Faye McElroy Lang, age 85, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Revs. John O'Leary and Bruce Walker officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lang passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024. She was a member of Memorial Methodist Church, where she served in various capacities including financial secretary and on the administrative council of the UMW. She was a 1961 graduate of Northwestern State University with a degree in Registered Nursing. Her career in nursing included several years as an RN at Morehouse General Hospital, Family Planning at the Morehouse Parish Health Unit, teaching an LPN course at Bastrop High School and later serving as the school nurse for the Morehouse Parish School System from which she retired. Flower gardening was her passion. She spent many hours caring for her yard and was honored with several awards for her beautification talents from the local garden club. In addition, she enjoyed reading and traveling across the country with her husband and friends. Mrs. Lang was a member of the Morehouse Parish Educators.
Mrs. Lang is survived by her husband of 63 years, John E. Lang; son, Lamar Lang and wife Lisa of Bastrop, LA; grandson, Ashton Lang of Antwerp, Belgium; sister, Dallene Perkins of Zachary, LA; brother in-law, Philip Lang and wife Margaret of Winnfield, LA; nephews, Brad Perkins, Dale Lang, David Lang and a special care giver, Victoria Linzay.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Adelia McElroy and a granddaughter, Lauren Lang.
