Johnnie Ryan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A Natural State Funeral Service & Crematory on Sep. 25, 2025.
Johnnie Allison Ryan, Jr, "Big John" age 51, of Cabot departed this life peacefully to join his Savior on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. He was born June 1, 1974 to JoAnn and JA Ryan of Cabot, Arkansas.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father JoAnn and JA Ryan and his brother, Randy Ryan (Brenda).

He leaves behind his wife, Carey Ryan; stepsons, Chase (Amber) and Mateo (Shawnee); granddaughter, Karleigh; grandpup (Kenzie), his sisters, Debbie Ryan and Allison James (Greg); his nieces, Miranda Rogers (John), Angela Ryan, Paige Soderlund, Lainey Rogers, Taylor James, and Myleigh Rogers; and his nephews, Bryce Ryan and James Rogers.

John followed in his father's and brother's footsteps and was a journeyman plumber. He was the Public Works Director for the City of Austin for 20+ years and served on the Austin Volunteer Fire Department for those years as well. Most recently he was the Construction Observer for McClelland Consulting Engineers Inc – a job that he enjoyed and thrived in. John loved to fish and hunt, not only for the sport but spending that time with his family and friends. One of his most favorite things to do was to pick on and boss around his older sisters.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mendelsohn and the nurses at Carti in Little Rock and to all the staff on the 10th floor at Big Baptist, especially Dr. Cline and Nurse Shelli.

We would also like to thank McClellan Engineering for making the transition the last year easier on John while going through treatments and continuing to work.

A special thank you to his lifelong friend/family Jeremy Reed. John loved you like a little brother.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00am with funeral service starting at 11:00am at Austin Station Baptist Church in Austin. Burial to follow at Flynn Cemetery in Humnoke, Arkansas.
