Johnnie A. Schmidt Jr.

Johnnie "John" A. Schmidt, Jr., age 49, of Saginaw, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. The son of Johnnie and Robin (Douglas) Schmidt, Johnnie was born July 9, 1974, in Saginaw, Michigan.
Johnnie was filled with his love of hockey, hunting, fishing, horror films, and most importantly, his family. He changed many lives and was always there to make you laugh. Johnnie was a great father and loved by all.
Johnnie is survived by his four children, John (Destiny) Schmidt, Cynthia (Austin) Hayes, Devin (Krista) Shaw, and Keira Schmidt; eight grandchildren, Jamisen Kenyon, Emma Schmidt, Domador Schwab, Kira Schmidt, Laytin Schmidt, Nathan Schwab, Ryan Schwab, Braelyn Hayes, and Anna Schwab; his parents, Johnnie A. Schmidt, Sr., and Robin Schmidt; his brother, James (Shannon) Schmidt; nieces and nephews, Tyler (Chelsea) Schmidt, Alisha Schmidt, Ryan Schmidt, Ezekiel Schmidt, Ethan Schmidt and Blake Schmidt; great niece and nephew, Aaliyah and Jaxon; his former spouse and dear friend, Tamicka Shaw; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Hazel Schmidt, Donald and Betty Douglas; his uncles, Ed Chobod, Carl Mervyn and Donald Douglas; nephew, Mark Schmidt; and his cousin, Adam Douglas
Visitation will take place Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home. Bry Greene will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at Lakefield Township Cemetery, Lakefield, MI.
