Johnnie Carl Wolfe, a beloved member of the community, passed away on November 26, 2025, at the age of 73 in Gordon, Texas. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the countless lives he touched throughout his years as a dedicated barber.
Born on July 5, 1952, in Ranger, Texas, Johnnie was the son of Hollis Lee Wolfe and Mattie Mae Grissom Wolfe. He grew up in Gordon, where he not only graduated from high school but also formed lasting relationships that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. For many years, he worked with pride at the City Barber Shop in Stephenville, where he honed his skill as a "jack of all trades," offering not just haircuts but friendship and conversation to all who entered.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his loving parents, brother Edward Wolfe, and cherished sister and brother-in-law Glenda and Roy Gene Driskill. His legacy of kindness will continue through his family, who include two devoted brothers, Weldon Wolfe of Lone Camp, Texas, and Judson Wolfe of San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Underwood and her husband Jody of Odessa, Texas, and Lindsey Sasser and her husband Levi of Edmond, Oklahoma. Johnnie also leaves behind five dear grandchildren-Grady and Madoc Underwood of Odessa, Texas, and Laramie, Lanie, and Larait Sasser of Edmond, Oklahoma-who brought immense joy to his life.
In honor of Johnnie's life and the love he spread, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Gordon. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his remarkable life, share cherished memories, and support one another during this difficult time.
Johnnie Carl Wolfe will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.
