CHIEF JOHNNY LEE GARRETT, a beloved member of his community and a dedicated family man, passed away on July 23, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on August 28, 1946, in San Augustine, Texas, CHIEF led a life marked by service, love, and a passion for the things that brought him joy.

Throughout his career, CHIEF served as Constable for Dallas County Pct #1, Chief Deputy Constable under Constable Burl Jernigan, Constable Derick Evans, and Constable Tracey Gulley, He served as Captain Deputy Constable under Constable Joe Bagby at Pct #8. A Private Investigator and Security professional. His commitment to safeguarding his community and ensuring justice was a testament to his character and dedication to public service. In addition to his career, CHIEF was a proud Vietnam veteran, having honorably served in the Army. His military service played a significant role in shaping the values he lived by, including courage, loyalty, and a deep respect for others.

CHIEF possessed a vibrant personality that drew people to him. He was known for his playful spirit, loving nature, and a heart that was always open to those around him. Family gatherings were a cherished tradition for CHIEF, where he would shine brightly among loved ones, sharing laughter and creating memories that will endure. Along with his passion for family, he devoted much of his time to volunteer work, ensuring that he was always looking out for others and making a positive impact in the lives of many.

In his leisure time, CHIEF indulged in his hobbies, which included collecting cars and attending car shows, particularly with the Corvette Club. His enthusiasm for automobiles was rivaled only by his love for studying the Bible and preaching, which reflected his profound spirituality and desire to share his knowledge and experiences with others.

CHIEF  proudest accomplishments revolved around his family. He took immense pride in nurturing relationships with his loved ones and being a guiding force in their lives. His legacy will live on through their cherished memories and the values he instilled in them.

Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to pay their respects and celebrate CHIEF  life at the following services: a viewing on August 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas; a funeral service on August 9, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM at All Nations Fellowship in Garland, Texas; and a burial at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on August 11, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM.

As we remember and honor Chief Johnny Lee Garrett, let us carry forward his spirit of love, generosity, and unwavering faith in one another. His presence will be deeply missed, but his impact will resonate in our hearts forever.
