Johnny Gilbert

Johnny Andrew Gilbert, 78, of Lyman, South Carolina, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at his home.
He was born in Fingerville, South Carolina, to the late William Claude and Eloise Underwood Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert loved his family and was proud of all of them. He loved God and his wish for everyone to know God as their Lord and Savior. He was a deacon and member of Inman Mills Baptist Church, Inman, South Carolina and a former member of Canaan Baptist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Mr. Gilbert was a graduate of James F. Byrnes High School Class of 1966, a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served during the Vietnam War, and an insurance agent and broker for 53 years. He was a mister fix-it and could fix almost anything. He was always a very kind, soft spoken, and understanding man.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years and high school sweetheart, Judy Marie Morrow Gilbert; a son, John M. Gilbert of Spartanburg, South Carolina; a grandson, Dylan Gilbert and his wife, Mandi Gilbert; two great-grandsons, Luke Rose and Tanner Gilbert; a great-granddaughter, Zuri Gilbert; a brother, Claude E. Gilbert of Greer, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Vera Crow and Doris McCombs and a brother, Joseph "Joe" Gilbert.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. Jerry White. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2025, at The Wood Mortuary.
