Johnny Howell, 73, departed this life Monday, December 23, 2024, at Pine Meadows Healthcare Center.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Brints Chapel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar on Saturday, December 28th, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and resume at the church on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Mr. Howell was born in Bolivar on April 30, 1951 to the late William T. and Eva Freeman Howell. He lived in Memphis from 1970-1991 and was a long-time member of Brints Chapel Baptist Church where he helped open and close the church for each service, distribute bulletins and manage the heating and cooling settings. Johnny was always looking for a way to help out in any situation or setting he found himself in. He enjoyed visiting and talking with friends and family. Among his favorite things was doting on his nieces and nephews, when they were small and giving them rides in his wheelchair. His siblings all describe him as an awesome brother and uncle!
He leaves a sister, Marilyn Howell (Joe) of Middleton; two brothers, William G. Howell of Grand Valley Lakes and Danny Howell (Barbara) of Palatine, IL. He also is survived by four aunts, two uncles, seven nieces and nephews, Chris Burns (Jennifer), Bryon Burns (Elizabeth), Desi Ball (Joe), Tabi King Fisher (J. C.), Joe Howell, III, Maria Howell and Kayla Howell, and twelve great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his twin brother, Tommy; his sister, Patricia Mae Howell; maternal grandparents, James N. and Adeline Lowe Freeman; and paternal grandparents, William Everette and Lillie Gertrude Sisco Howell.
