Johnny M James

Johnny M. James, 70, of Smithfield, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 27th, 2025. Born in Portsmouth on October 13, 1954, Johnny was the son of Milton Benton and Joyce Mae James. He retired as welder with Local 110. He was known for his love, loyalty, and his passion for riding his motorcycle. Johnny is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa James; his children, Cheyenne James and Morgan McGrath (Anthony); his grandchildren, Marley and Brayden Chappell; his dear friend, Ray Shackelford; and his sister, Crystal James. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Joyce James. Johnny's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends who loved him deeply. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, laughter, and countless stories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come. Details for a service to celebrate Johnny's life will come at a later time.
