Johnny Melton, 69, of Coffeeville, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. He was born January 26, 1957 in Grenada to James Wesley and Ernestine Martin Melton. Johnny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was known for his hardworking nature and the love he had for his family. He retired from Serta after many years of dedicated work. In his free time, Johnny enjoyed being at home building things for his family. He had a special talent for woodworking and could build almost any piece of furniture someone asked for. Many of the things he made will continue to be cherished by those who loved him. Johnny also had a passion for gardening. He loved spending time tending to his plants and flowers and working in his greenhouse. It brought him great joy to watch the things he planted grow and flourish.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2026 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. J. Barry Worrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery at Oxberry. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until service time Sunday at McKibben and Guinn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Pam Melton; his children, Shane Melton, Michael Melton (Robbin), Kristin Melton (Joe), and Wesley Melton (Cheri); two sisters, Lisa Sheffield and Betty Woods; his grandchildren, Shanna Looney (JJ), Alyssa Melton, Michael and Trey Melton, Rylan and Kayden Branscome, and Jhett Melton; and one great-granddaughter Izice’Lynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Johnny will be remembered for his kindness, his craftsmanship, and the love he shared with his family. His legacy will live on through the many memories he created and the things he built with his hands and heart.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Rylan Branscome, J.J. Looney, Jhett Melton, Michael Melton and Trey Melton.
