Graveside service for Johnny "Tom" Thomas Mott, 79 of Jonesville, LA will be held at Nolan Family Cemetery in Sandy Lake, LA on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 2PM with Rev. Joel Ford officiating, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville, LA from 12 until 1:30PM.

Tom was born on Friday, October 11, 1946 in Concord, TX and passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Tom served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, carrying that sense of duty throughout his life. A true jack of all trades, he worked as a commercial fisherman, fishing not for sport, but to provide food and help feed people. Though fishing was his work, hunting was his passion. He was also a skilled carpenter who took great pride in craftsmanship, believing honest work mattered. Tom was a dedicated husband and a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. He taught his children and grandchildren how to survive off the land, to respect nature, and to be self-reliant. He loved his family deeply and was always there to help, guide, and support them whenever they needed him. Tom will be missed by everyone who had the chance to know him.

He is reunited with his wife, Gloria Jean Cormier Mott; daughter, Tawana Mott; parents, Burton Jackson Mott and Ruthie Harvey Mott; and siblings, Burton Mott, Ann Kay, Jackie Hyde, and Luscia Evans.

Those left behind to cherish Tom's memories are his son, Clayton Mott of Acme, LA; daughter, Stacy Foret & her husband Harold of Sunset, LA; grandchildren, Wyatt Mott, Damean Foret, and Ashley Foret & her wife Jackie, Cory Whittington, Kim Whittington, Chris Whittington, and Shasta Whittington; great-grandchildren, Blaydin, Cambree, Clayton, Asher, Caleb, Ayden, Cheyenne, and Dalton; siblings, Glenda Nolan, Nez Mott, Deloice Carter, Royce Mott & his wife Ruth, and Nelda Mott; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Those honoring Tom as pallbearers are Clayton Mott, Cory Whittington, Tommy Olinde, Stephen Perkins, Wyatt Foret, and Damean Foret.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Smith and Darren Smith.
