Johnny Perry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Helm - Gallagher Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Green Cove Springs from Jan. 6 to Jan. 20, 2026.
Johnny Odell Perry, Jr., passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, in Middleburg, Florida. Born on September 23, 1978, in Jacksonville, Florida, Odell was a man whose presence was as robust and steadfast as the heavy equipment he operated throughout his career in the construction industry.
Odell was the beloved son of Johnny Odell Perry, Sr., and the late Manuela Cardoza Perry, who predeceased him. He grew up in a family that valued strength, both in character and in kinship, alongside his caring sister Ronna LaJohna Perry and his brother Timothy Travis Perry. Johnny's family was the cornerstone of his life, and his role as a brother and son was filled with the same dedication and excellence that he brought to every aspect of his life.
Professionally, Odell was admired for his skill as a Heavy Equipment Operator. His colleagues respected him for his competence and the thoughtfulness he brought to each project. Odell work was not just a job; it was a passion. He believed in the value of building and creating, and his contributions to the construction industry will stand as a testament to his hard work and commitment.
Those who knew Johnny would describe him as thoughtful, loving, and kind. He was a man who spoke with actions more often than words, and his generosity knew no bounds. His hands were always the first to offer help, and his heart was always open to friends and family alike. Odell's interests extended beyond the construction site; he cherished the time spent with loved ones, sharing stories, laughter, and the simple joys of life.
A quote that Odell often reflected upon, attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson, is, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Odell lived by these words, striving to make a difference in the lives of those around him. His success in this endeavor was evident in the warmth and affection that those who knew him felt.
As we bid farewell to Johnny, we remember a man whose life was a testament to the virtues of love, kindness, and thoughtful consideration. His legacy is etched not only in the physical structures he helped to build but in the indelible mark he left on the hearts of his family and friends. Johnny Odell Perry, Jr. will be deeply missed, and the memories he created with all who were privileged to know him will be cherished forever.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Holly Hill Memorial Park, 3601 Old Jennings Rd., Middleburg, FL 32068.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing, I just found out from a Facebook post. When I think of Odell I think about a sweet boy in his teen years with a great big smile. Sending my love and prayers for y'all.

Odell,
Some people enter a room,
and the air changes.
Laughter gets louder,
the day seems warmer,
and suddenly the world feels easier to live in.
That was you.
Handsome without trying,
Magnetic without effort,
fun in a way that couldn´t be taught.
A backhoe of laughs,
a competitive spirit,
a voice,
always cheering someone on,
even while heckling the competition with a boyish grin.

You stood in my corner before I ever asked,
saw my heart before anyone judged my past.
You remembered my name when I wasn´t around,
defended my character, helped me stand proud.
No doubt, no pause, no need to pretend,
you showed me Your meaning of a true friend.

At the dartboard you taught me to aim,
but really you taught me to have fun,
don't worry,
and to believe in my game.
Not just the bull line, but the person I am,
you made me feel steady and encouraged me saying," You can."
You made the heaviness lighter somehow.
Reminding the underdog,
that to a cat, he is the "Bow Wow."
You were a ball of "GOOF" in human form,
a steady pillar in every storm.
An effortless smile,
a spark so rare,
the kind of soul that brightens the air.
Odell,
you brought hilarious happiness into my life.
The kind that doesn´t fade,
the kind that stays stored in each day,
and every tost.
You made everyone smile with your stupid jokes.
And now you´re gone,
but somehow still here
in every laugh,
every memory,
every dartboard,
every moment.
I'm waiting for you to pop out and yell, "SIKE" like you"Own it!"

As I remember what our friendship felt like,
I will truly miss you, Odell.
But I know this much is certain:
wherever you are,
you´re still smiling,
still heckling someone,
still filling the place with laughter.

Keep smiling,
My friend.
Until we see each other again,

Love and Light Always to the Perry family,
Sonya
