Johnny Lee Perry, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on January 31, 2026. He was 75 years old.
Johnny was born on June 2, 1950, in Gulfport, Mississippi, to his loving mother, Irma Perry. He was known for his warm spirit and genuine heart. A sweet, loving, caring, and compassionate man, Johnny had a personality that could light up any room. He was often the life of the party and had a natural way of getting along with anyone he met.
Johnny enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved fishing, listening to the blues, and spending quiet evenings watching westerns on television. A hardworking man throughout his life, he worked many years as a carpentry laborer and took pride in providing for his family through honest work.
Family meant everything to Johnny. He deeply loved his grandchildren and remained very active and dedicated in their lives, often helping care for them and making sure they were looked after with love and attention. They were truly the joy of his life.
Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Davonta Robertson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his only child, Debra Robertson-Smith; one grandson, Demaro Roberson; two sisters, Ida Perry and Marie Perry; one brother, Raymond Perry; and a host of extended family members who will remember him with love.
Though Johnny kept a small circle, he valued genuine friendship. He shared a special bond with his good friend, Mr. Bob, Robert Mackley, whose friendship meant a great deal to him.
Johnny will be remembered for his loving heart, his hardworking spirit, and the care he showed to his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held in private.
