Mr. Johnny Ray Worley, 79, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Emory University Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Johnny was born in Gordon County on August 19, 1944, the son of the late Conley Hudson Worley and Estelle Carden Worley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Pasley, and Barbara Burkhart; four brothers, Bill Worley, Richard Worley, Louie Worley, and CH Worley.
He was a beloved resident of Calhoun, Georgia, and spent his entire life there. He began working at the young age of thirteen as a short-order cook at Wisteria, even standing on a milk crate to reach the grill. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to the food industry and successfully owned two restaurants, Johnny’s and Hickory House, for over thirty years. Johnny shared forty-five beautiful years of marriage with his beloved Lisa, and they built a loving family together, with five children, fifteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was known for his unwavering support of the Calhoun Yellow Jacket Football team, never missing a game when he could attend. Johnny's life was a testament to hard work and his deep devotion to caring for his loved ones. He was a Free & Accepted Mason
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Bunch Worley; two daughters and son-in-law, Kesha Mauldin and her husband Wesley, and Pam Cassell; three sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Brandi Worley, Eric and Brittany Worley, and Johnny Worley Jr; one brother-in-law, James Pasley; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Worley,; fifteen grandchildren, Jennifer Stinson, Tiffany Worley, Timothy Worley, Kayla Williams, Casey Gann, Kyleigh and Jeremy Thomas, Braxton and Courtney Richards, Luke and Macy Worley, Kobie Carney, Lance Mauldin, Maddie Mauldin, Braylon Worley, Anna Worley, Logan Worley, and Beck Worley; eight great-grandchildren, Kierstin, Elijah, Kate-Lynn, Braylon, Jason, Sawyer, Beau and Liam; special family members, Cathy and Tim Sharpe, Jerry and Debbie Bunch, Gerald and Debbie Murphy; several special nieces, nephews and the Stonehaven Crew.
The family asks that flowers be omitted and contributions be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society. You can do so on this website.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home. A service to celebrate his life will be held later.
