Jolene Bailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by San Juan Mortuary - Blanding on Sep. 3, 2023.
Jolene Shumway Bailey of Queen Creek, Arizona passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 31, 2023 at the age of 93.
Jolene was born May 22,1930 in Blanding, Utah to Arah and Grace Shumway. She attended school in Blanding and graduated from San Juan High School. She met Kenneth Rone Bailey from Monticello during high school. They were sealed in the Manti Temple on May 22, 1950.
They made their home in Monticello where they raised four children, Jeffrey, Colleen, Kirk and Suzanne. In addition to her family she was involved in the community. She loved golf, bowling and served in many positions in The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She faithfully supported her husband in his occupations, church callings, as Mayor of Monticello and County Commissioner. They later moved to Gilbert, Arizona where they served together for many years
in the Mesa temple.
Jolene found joy in the simple pleasures of reading, puzzles, cards and games. Her real love was cooking, to the delight of her family and neighbors. Her fudge and panoche were enjoyed by all. Thank you, Mother, for the love you shared,
the lessons you taught and the life you lived.
She is survived by her children, Colleen Golden and husband Dennis of Henderson, Nevada, Kirk and wife Jeri of Saratoga Springs, Utah and Suzanne and husband Ron of Queen Creek, Arizona. She is also a cherished grandmother of 20 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Jolene was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Kenneth; her parents, Arah and Grace; her oldest son, Jeffrey; two grandchildren, Chad Kenneth Bailey and Lindsey Ann Golden; three sisters and three brothers.
A funeral service in her honor will be held Saturday, September 16th at 1:00 p.m. with a viewing at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 165 South Main Street, Monticello, Utah. Internment will take place at the Monticello City Cemetery.
