Jon Parker Dady of Birmingham, Michigan passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, New York on September 10,1940, he was the son of Chester A. Dady, Jr. and Dorothy P. Dady. Dear husband of Jane Bowman, and father of Ami Koehler (Jeff), Joshua Dady (Lindsey), and Bliss Dady. Grandfather of Parker, Maxwell, and Burns. Great grandfather of Oliver and Jack. Jon is also survived by the mother of Ami and Joshua, Penny Peniwell Dady. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Dady.
Following graduation from the University of Detroit, Jon enjoyed a 45-year career in commercial banking with the National Bank of Detroit. His love for business and finance combined with an insatiable curiosity helped him forge strong relationships with his clients and co-workers, many who became lifelong friends.
Jon loved learning, and always sought to broaden his understanding of the world. He was rarely without a book or newspaper in his hand. He enjoyed travel, art, live theater, the opera, the stock market, sports and politics. Jon was genuinely kind to everyone he met. He had an inquisitive mind and was a thoughtful listener.
Above all, Jon adored his family. He was a devoted father and grandfather, delighted to attend events, have adventures or simply spend time together. He saved newspaper clippings for everyone, wishing to share information and expose his family to new experiences. He encouraged and believed in each family member and often saw things in us we may not have seen in ourselves. Jon loved to laugh. Anyone riding in his car needed to be prepared for conversation, spontaneous side trips and random stops for "provisions".
A Celebration of Life is planned at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon St, Birmingham, on Friday October 11th at 10 AM. Visitation at church begins at 9 AM.
Committal will take place immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery, 708 Oak Avenue, Birmingham.
